SAD-BJP Government back in Punjab, clean sweep in Jalandhar

  SAD-BJP alliance is all set to form their government for consecutively second time in Punjab. In Punjab assembly elections declared on Tuesday 6th March SAD-BJP alliance got 68 seats out of total 117 seats while congress managed to get 46 seats. Now as the government forms Parkash Singh Badal will be sworn as Chief minister for the fifth time. He has been elected chief minister in the state of Punjab earlier in1970,1977,1997 and 2007. 


 What has been most interesting feature for this election result is that SAD-BJP alliance made a clean sweep in Jalandhar constituency. Alliance has bagged all 9 seats of this constituency. From Jalandhar central Manmohan Kalia of BJP defeated congress candidate Rajinder Beri with a margin of 1065 votes. While Manmohan Kalia got 44963 votes, Beri got only 43898 votes. From Jalandhar north BJP candidate K.D.Bhandari defeated Avtar Henry of congress for second time. Avtar Henry got 50495 votes while K.D.Bhandari defeated him by a margin of 1703 votes getting a total number of 52198 votes. Chuni Lal Bhagat of BJP retained his seat of Jalandhar west by 11343 votes margin over his rival candidate Mrs. Suman K P. of  Indian National Congress. Bhagat got 48207 votes while Mrs K P got 36864 votes.
  Veteran Olympian Pargat Sigh (48290 votes) of  SAD has bagged jaladhar kent seat by defeating Jagbir Brar (41492 votes). Kartarpur seat has gone to Sarvan Singh Phillaur of SAD. He got a total of 48484 votes while his rival Chodhry Jagjit Singh of congress  got 47661 votes. Margin of victory has been of 823 votes. Ex minister Ajit Sigh Kohar  defeated congress candidate C D Kamboj in Shahkot constituency. Kohar got 55875 votes against 50440 votes of Kamboj. Avinash Chander of SAD won Phillour seat by a merely 31 votes margin. Congress candidate Choudhry Santokh Singh fell short by getting 46084 votes against 46115 votes of Avinash Chander. SAD also got hold of Nakoder seat where SAD candidate Gurpartap Singh Vadala was declared elected getting 61441 votes against his 52849 votes of his rival candidate Amarjeet Sing Samra of Congress. Pavan Tinu of SAD also won from Adampur seat by defeating Satnam Kenth of Congress by 19306 votes. SAD candidate got 48171 votes against 28865 votes of congress candidate.
 Now as it is all set to form a new government, all eyes will be on that who is going to get a berth in ministry.
