Ramnavmi Shobhayatra In Jalandhar

Sri Rama Navmi Shobhayatra (Procession) was organised in Jalandhar(Punjab India) on 31st March 2012..Sri Rama Navami celebrates the appearance of Lord Sri Ramachandra the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu Who advented Himself on earth. 


Every year on this occation a huge procession took place in Jalandhar. This shobhayatra started from Sidh Shri Devi Talab Mandir arround 2pm in the afernoon and passing from Shaheed Bhagat Sigh Chouk (Crossing), Nehru Garden Chouk, Patel Chouck, Mai Hiran Gate (Famous books Market), it concluded back in Shri Devi Talab Mandir late night arround 11pm.


More than 1500 mandir(temples) from Jalandhar partispated in this shobhayatra with their Jhankees depicting the life of Lord Rama. This Shobhayatra (Procession) is belived to be the biggest in Jaladhar and every year people of Jalandhar eagerly await for this shobhayatra.



Many stages were put across the path of shobhaytra, where artists performed various secences from the life on Lord Rama, Devi Durga etc. People of Jalandhar gethhered on all the way of shobhayatra to take blessings of Lord Rama.

SAD-BJP Government back in Punjab, clean sweep in Jalandhar

  SAD-BJP alliance is all set to form their government for consecutively second time in Punjab. In Punjab assembly elections declared on Tuesday 6th March SAD-BJP alliance got 68 seats out of total 117 seats while congress managed to get 46 seats. Now as the government forms Parkash Singh Badal will be sworn as Chief minister for the fifth time. He has been elected chief minister in the state of Punjab earlier in1970,1977,1997 and 2007. 


 What has been most interesting feature for this election result is that SAD-BJP alliance made a clean sweep in Jalandhar constituency. Alliance has bagged all 9 seats of this constituency. From Jalandhar central Manmohan Kalia of BJP defeated congress candidate Rajinder Beri with a margin of 1065 votes. While Manmohan Kalia got 44963 votes, Beri got only 43898 votes. From Jalandhar north BJP candidate K.D.Bhandari defeated Avtar Henry of congress for second time. Avtar Henry got 50495 votes while K.D.Bhandari defeated him by a margin of 1703 votes getting a total number of 52198 votes. Chuni Lal Bhagat of BJP retained his seat of Jalandhar west by 11343 votes margin over his rival candidate Mrs. Suman K P. of  Indian National Congress. Bhagat got 48207 votes while Mrs K P got 36864 votes.
  Veteran Olympian Pargat Sigh (48290 votes) of  SAD has bagged jaladhar kent seat by defeating Jagbir Brar (41492 votes). Kartarpur seat has gone to Sarvan Singh Phillaur of SAD. He got a total of 48484 votes while his rival Chodhry Jagjit Singh of congress  got 47661 votes. Margin of victory has been of 823 votes. Ex minister Ajit Sigh Kohar  defeated congress candidate C D Kamboj in Shahkot constituency. Kohar got 55875 votes against 50440 votes of Kamboj. Avinash Chander of SAD won Phillour seat by a merely 31 votes margin. Congress candidate Choudhry Santokh Singh fell short by getting 46084 votes against 46115 votes of Avinash Chander. SAD also got hold of Nakoder seat where SAD candidate Gurpartap Singh Vadala was declared elected getting 61441 votes against his 52849 votes of his rival candidate Amarjeet Sing Samra of Congress. Pavan Tinu of SAD also won from Adampur seat by defeating Satnam Kenth of Congress by 19306 votes. SAD candidate got 48171 votes against 28865 votes of congress candidate.
 Now as it is all set to form a new government, all eyes will be on that who is going to get a berth in ministry.

Election Time in Punjab


 Punjab is going through assembly elections on 30th January 2012. Election process has started in Punjab. Filling of nominations by candidates has been done. Election commission of India has deployed staff for election duty. Second rehearsal for election staff was conducted on Sunday 15th January 2012.Rehearsal was affected due to rain showers in the morning, due to which some changes had to be made in the arrangements of the election rehearsal. These rehearsals were conducted at many places in Jalandhar mainly Govt. Model Sen. Sec School, Govt. College of Education. Sain Dass A.S. Sen. Sec. School and KMV College. 


  In Punjab assembly elections a total number of  1080 candidates are trying their luck for 117 assembly seats. Main contest is between ruling Akali Dal-BJP alliance and Congress. Counting of votes and declaration of results will be on 6th March 2012. Election commission of India is very strict this time to stop corrupt practices during election to woo voters by giving cash or liquor. In Punjab police have seized more than 23 crore of unaccountable money which was supposed to be used during elections.
